Oh my goodness I can’t believe I haven’t posted a style diary since November 2013. I am so sorry for being MIA. Many things have changed in my life in the past few months. I purchased my first home back in November: this process was very stressful but all worked out at the end, closed on the house and moved in at the end of December. Earlier this year in January, I quit my job at the bank to focus on my speaking career and foundation work. Plus I turned 25 years old in March. Oh boy, I am getting old.
Despite all the challenges I’ve faced in the past few months, a lot of doors have opened up for me. I am so glad I listened to my instinct and inner voice to quit my corporate job so that I can focus on my true passion – which is to share my story and inspire young people of America. So far this year, I have spoken at Hofstra University, Fairfield University, Duke University, Miami University, University of Connecticut, William Paterson University, Housatonic Community College, Talawanda High School, Middletown High School, Sayville High School, Kaplen JCC on the Palisades. 95% of these talks have been paid gigs: truly a blessing since I wasn’t sure how things would turn out when I decided to resign from TD Bank on January 17th.
Back in February, I was given an opportunity to appear on News 12 Connecticut’s OUR LIVES SHOW to promote my foundation’s scholarship and teacher grant opportunities. This was my 2nd TV appearance which was cool. Not only that, Connecticut Magazine selected me as one of their honorees for the 40 Under 40 list of influential people in Connecticut: an honor I will never forget. Now, I can’t wait for my moment on TIME 100, at CNN Heroes and Do Something Awards on Vh1. LOL, a brother has a dream and a vision. I know it’s going to happen one day.
As many of you may know already, I love H&M. Their clothes fit me right. Both the jacket and pants are from H&M, the shirt is by Tommy Hilfiger and my awesome purple shoes are from Cole Haan. I hope you appreciate this outfit as much as I did. But I’ve got to run now to go coach volleyball. Well, that’s another activity that is new in my life this year. I am an assistant volleyball coach at one of the local high school here in Bridgeport. Actually this is my former high school. It’s an opportunity that was presented to me and I said why not. Talk to you soon loves. Hope you are all doing amazing things this year and God is blessing you with your desires.
